Beach volleyball is a great sport that can played for a very long time.  There are professional beach volleyball players in their late 30's that are still winning titles.  Learning a little bit about how to play beach volleyball can go a long way in helping you be better blocker at the volleyball net or defensive players behind the block.

Let's go over some key things that you must learn before you step in the sand to play the game.  If you think that you will automatically be good at outdoor volleyball because you are amazing at indoor you have another thing coming.  Many indoor players actually start out hating beach volleyball because they are so used to dominating the sport that it's very humbling to get beat by any Joe Blow in the sand.  If you can just bite the bullet during your learning phase of sand volleyball you can become a great player on the beach.  Some things that you will experience are not being able to jump which results in not being able to kill balls.  This bugs a lot of indoor players because that's all they are good at, spiking balls really hard.  You will learn that spiking is not special because everyone can do it, you need to learn how to pass and set with perfect form to be good.  Not every ball is hit hard on the beach, you will learn how to shoot the ball without doing open hand tips.  Don't get discouraged, just keep practicing.
